There's a lot that went into setting up this seemingly simple blog, but I will get into the specifics of that some other day. That's part of the problem. I keep thinking about all the posts I want to make... but then get paralyzed with all these ideas so I don't act on any of them. I hear that's called "task initiation paralysis" which is associated with ADHD, but I didn't take my Adderall today, so that'll be a different post for some other day, too.
Here are other things happening lately:
💍 It's wedding month, OMGGGG. Thankfully, our venue takes care of a bulk of everything, but there are still some details Ariel and I need to tend to, so there's a healthy amount of stress happening. I'm confident everything will go well though, largely in part due to Ariel's penchant for details and research. I can't believe I get to see so many faces I love in one place in a few weeks!
🐶 We are picking up a pug named Fiona tonight! We started fostering with DFW Pug Rescue in September and fostered the silliest boy, Topper, for five months. I miss him a lot but am glad he's found his new forever family. Since we have the wedding coming up, we decided not to do another long-term foster, but I've been diligently checking the short-term foster needs and found that Fiona could fit into our schedule. I'm so excited to have a little, chonky, snorty creature around that will hopefully keep Nugget company. Nugget has adapted back to being the only dog in the house, but she sure did have a lot of fun with Topper, so this is a win-win-win situation. And look at Fiona's face!
📺 I tried watching Derry Girls years ago, but couldn't get into it. But Ariel and I decided to give it another try and two episodes in, we are having a good time? Weird how tastes change. Oh! and I found this documentary on Hulu, The Disappearance of Shere Hite, and it's worth watching to see all the men squirm when it's suggested they are inadequate in any kind of way. Hite compiled thousands of anonymous surveys that revealed, among many things, that women could experience sexual pleasure without men and that many men are lonely and sad. Do yourself a favor and give it a watch – it's National Women's History Month after all!
👾 My Nintendo Switch is getting some use this week as I distract myself from buying a Steam Deck or Asus Rog Ally. I don't know why I'm tempted to buy another handheld gaming console when I really should be saving money, but maybe that's why? I started a new run of Coffee Talk (as I've only gone through one, short playthrough) which has been a nice way to wind down the past few nights.
🎶 I'd like to include an update about music I've been listening to with these updates, so here's what I've been humming every day because it's on our wedding playlist: "Under the Sea / Flyers Drive" by The Fearless Flyers. Our DJ was speechless for a second when he was reviewing our playlist with us and saw The Fearless Flyers on it. Then, he suggested some Louis Cole and that moment put me at ease that the music at our wedding will be in good hands.
